A while ago, while listening to a sermon from my home pastor, I had to pause and honestly ask myself this question: am I truly allowing the Holy Spirit to transform my life, or am I only allowing Him into the areas that feel comfortable and convenient for me? Real transformation demands surrender. It requires me to yield every part of myself to God, even the hidden places I try so hard to protect. Yet there is nothing hidden from Him. He sees all things and knows all things completely.
Why would I choose to settle for a lesser spiritual experience when Jesus paid such a costly price for me to walk in fullness, freedom, intimacy, and true transformation? So many times, we become comfortable merely surviving spiritually, when God actually called us to walk in power, maturity, holiness, and deep fellowship with Him. Ephesians chapter 2 reveals that I was once dead in sin, yet through His mercy and grace, God brought me into life with Christ. I was not rescued just to remain stagnant. I was saved for a divine purpose, and I must never lose sight of that.
This means I cannot remain spiritually immature. I must grow and become fully formed in Christ, just as He intended me to be. My maturity matters deeply to Him. Yet that does not take away the fact that I am still His daughter, His beloved baby girl, the one He delights in while He continues to shape, blossom, and develop me into all He has called me to be.
So where exactly am I in this journey with God? Am I truly growing, yielding, and becoming more like Christ daily, or have I become spiritually complacent? These are honest questions I must continually ask myself. God did not save me aimlessly. He saved me intentionally, with purpose, calling, and destiny attached to my life. I must learn to understand my mandate and run with it faithfully. We all should, because we are kingdom forerunners and kingdom enforcers called to reveal His glory in this generation.
We must become a yielding people, sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and willing to be shaped by Him daily. Scripture declares that we are complete in Him. Therefore, I must ask myself whether I am truly living in the reality of this new life as a new creation, or if I am still holding onto old mindsets, behaviours, and patterns that Christ already died to free me from.
First Corinthians 15:33 teaches that bad company corrupts good character. Because of this, I must be intentional about the voices, environments, and influences I allow around me, because they shape the condition of my spirit and affect my walk with God. I cannot allow myself to be conformed to this world. My mind must continually be renewed through the Word of God and through intimacy with Him.
It is time for me to clothe myself with righteousness and walk as someone who truly belongs to Christ. Colossians 3 instructs me to put away anger, malice, filthy speech, dishonesty, and everything that does not reflect the nature of Jesus. As believers, we are called to live with honesty, integrity, purity, and sincerity. Our lives should reflect the character of Christ both publicly and privately. Christianity is not merely about the words that leave our lips, but about the fruit our lives consistently produce behind closed doors and in the sight of others daily. One thing I have come to realise is that the deeper I grow in the understanding of these truths, the more balance, wisdom, and beauty begin to flow through every area of my life. There is a certain richness and depth that starts to touch the way I work, the way I love, the way I serve, and the way I carry myself. I begin to become a healthier, wiser, and more refined version of myself, because only a healed and mature person can produce fruit that is genuine, lasting, and life giving. Such fruit naturally speaks for itself and leaves an undeniable impact on the lives of those around us.
Romans 13:11–14 makes it clear that the night is far spent and the day is at hand. This is not the season to live spiritually asleep, careless, distracted, or comfortable in stagnation. It is a season to become intentional with my walk with God, my growth, my healing, and the fruit my life produces daily. The more I grow in Christ, the more I realise that true transformation is reflected not only in what I say, but in the way I live, love, serve, work, and carry myself daily. I no longer want to settle for a surface level walk with God. I want my life to continually reflect His nature, His wisdom, and His character in every area. Because when a person is truly healed, matured, and transformed, it naturally touches every aspect of their life and changes the way they pour into the world around them.
